Robert H. Hoeppner, 82, Spencer

A graveside service for Robert H. Hoeppner was held Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, at Lone Tree Cemetery near Everly. Pastor Dan Taylor officiated. Warner Funeral Home in Spencer assisted with the arrangements.

Robert Henry Hoeppner, the son of Albert and Cathryn (Thee) Hoeppner, was born June 12, 1940 in Hartley. His childhood years were spent in the Moneta area where he attended school and was in the last class to graduate from Moneta High School in 1958.

Robert attended a tech school in Kansas City for two years before moving back to the Hartley area where he started farming. He married Kameron “Kay” Madsen on Dec. 6, 1968. He also worked for Don Olsen Ford for more than 40 years. He then worked for Spencer Truck Line for 10 years until his retirement in 2010.

Robert enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing cards and dice, watching Minnesota Twins baseball, tinkering in his garage, working on his 1966 Ford Galaxy, watching westerns and bowing. He was a member of Retreads Northwest Iowa Cycle, Snowtrackers, and First Lutheran Church in Milford. He was proud to have travelled to the contiguous 48 states.

Robert passed away on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022 at the Spencer Hospital, at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Kay, and two sons, Michael and Todd.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kristie (Kevin) Gray, of Spencer; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
