Dr. Soe Nyunt has served Hartley medical patients since 2006.

Sixteen years of providing medical care to residents of O'Brien County and the surrounding area are coming to an end for Dr. Soe Nyunt.

Nyunt came to Hartley Mercy Medical Clinic in 2006. It proved to be a good fit, as he is board certified in family practice.

"This has been the primary clinic for 16 years, serving the rural communities and seeing all kinds of patients," Nyunt said.

In addition to practicing at the clinic, he also provided care for residents of Community Memorial Health Center. Nyunt later became medical director at CMHC, which honored him on Monday for his service to residents of the facility.

With the recent closing of MercyOne Hartley Family Medicine, Nyunt was to continue seeing patients at the clinic in Primghar. However, he knew that would be a temporary situation as his wife, Dr. Jeannett Wu, was relocating to accept a position with Mercy Internal Medicine of Coralville.

"I'm relocating to Iowa City," he said about his future plans. "I'm following in that direction to be closer to family."
