• Charged with sexual abuse

Incidents that allegedly occurred seven years ago have resulted in a criminal complaint being filed against Nicholas Paul William Stallman, 35, of Hartley.

According to court records, alleged victims in the case came forward and said that Stallman had inappropriately touched them. He was charged with two counts of Second Degree Sexual Abuse, a class B felony. If convicted, Stallman could face up to 25 years in prison.

Stallman was arrested on Aug. 9 and released after posting bond. An Aug. 30 court date has been set.

• Various charges filed against area residents

Jennifer Larie Jones, 45, of Sutherland, and Joshua Jay Mahler, 43, of Paullina, were arrested for their alleged involvement in incidents that occurred earlier this month.

Jones and Mahler allegedly were in a residence in which several people stated they had used methamphetamine the previous night. Jones is reported to have stated that she lived in the residence where law enforcement found many controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.

Both are also accused of being in a home on Silver Avenue in which only Jones had permission to be there for a specific purpose. They allegedly gathered multiple items, including Dewalt batteries, bank cards and an Electronic Benefit Transfer card belonging to the resident. The items were allegedly placed in Jones’ car.

Jones and Mahler were charged with Gathering Where Controlled Substances are Used and Burglary-3rd Degree, class D felonies. A court date of Aug. 23 was set regarding the burglary charges, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 25.

• Injured in Minnesota accident

An area woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred in Minnesota, at 1:41 p.m. on Aug. 8.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2018 Toyota Highlander driven by Karen Mae Mathena, 73, of Sioux Falls, S.D., was exiting onto Highway 63 from Interstate 90 when it collided with a 2015 Ford Escape driven by Lindsey Jane Tomlin, 19, of Kirkwood, Mo.

Linda Kay Klett, 76, of Everly, was the only person injured. She was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester with non-life threatening injuries.

Agencies assisting at the scene were the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department, Stewartville Fire and First Responders, and Mayo Clinic Ambulance.
