O'Brien County Fair royalty crowned

Grace Fuhrman, Dain Moermond reign over 2022 festivities

New royalty assumed the throne Monday night at the O'Brien County Fair.

Grace Fuhrman and Dain Moermond were named queen and king of this year's fair. The duo succeeds 2021 Queen Kaeley Einck and King Jason Wittrock. Makenzie Meyer, of Paullina, was named fair princess on Monday and succeeds Sydney Zeutenhorst.

Moermond, of Sutherland, is the son of Josh and Becca Moermond. He will enter his senior year at South O'Brien High School this fall, and is an eight-year member of the GW Feeders 4-H Club. His favorite projects at the fair are swine and beef.

Fuhrman, of Paullina, is the daughter of Mark and Beth Fuhrman. She is a 2022 graduate of South O'Brien High School and plans to attend Buena Vista University this fall, where she will play softball and study pre-veterinary medicine. Fuhrman is a nine-year member of the GW Feeders 4-H Club and enjoys swine, market beef and clothing projects.


Other queen candidates included: Samantha Wilbur, of Primghar; Payton Farquhar, of Sutherland; Madisen Fischer, of Sheldon; and Morgan Grooters, of Sanborn. The two other king candidates were Jackson Albert, of Hartley, and Grant Wagner, of Primghar.
