Fair time fun in O'Brien County

The scorching heat and oppressive humidity can only mean one thing in late July – it's fair time in O'Brien County!

This year's installment features multiple events for the whole family. The forecast calls for steamy weather, but that shouldn't stop you from making a few trips to the fairgrounds in Primghar this week.

Things get started Saturday with a stacked lineup featuring the 15th Annual Antique/Classic Tractor Ride in the morning and auto races at night. After a brief lull Sunday, action picks up Monday with various exhibits, a petting zoo, Bill Riley Talent Show and the O'Brien County Fair King and Queen Coronation ceremony.

Tuesday's no slouch, either. More informational exhibits and children's entertainment will be featured throughout the day. However, it's the night show that will have folks packing the fairgrounds when the Interstate Cruisers hit the stage for a performance featuring favorite songs from yesteryear.

Things wrap up Wednesday and Thursday with a few more fun events. Of course, visitors can also check out the exhibits and livestock shows throughout the week. Our local 4-H and FFA members put a lot of effort into their projects throughout the year, so be sure to give them a look during these next four days.

O'Brien County has a busy six days ahead of itself. The schedule only underscores all the hard work that goes into planning an event like this one. Numerous selfless individuals spend many hours volunteering their time for the fair, and that shouldn't go unnoticed. Please show your appreciation by visiting the fairgrounds July 23-28.

Have fun and stay cool this week. We only get the fair for a few days each year, so be sure to get out and enjoy it!
