Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) met with students from Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, Hinton and Moville Middle Schools during their school trip to Washington, D.C. on Monday, July 18, 2022.

Grassley and the students discussed what made the senator interested in politics, the hardest and best parts of his job and who he knew when he started as a senator. They also talked about current events in Iowa, what he does in his free time and the Farm Bill when they met on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.

"I enjoy meeting with young Iowans and encouraging their interest in learning more about how our government works. Citizen involvement is essential to democracy in America, and young people are the key to the strength of our democracy in the future," Grassley said in a news release.
