In addition to traditional livestock shows, the 2022 O'Brien County Fair will feature a full slate of entertainment during both the daytime and evening.

The 2022 O'Brien County Fair is just around the corner.

This year's fair kicks off on Saturday, July 23 with a Tractor Ride at 9 a.m. Participants will begin the ride from the fairgrounds in Primghar, with dinner being served on the route.

The open crafts will also be judged on Saturday, and entrants can begin to bring those items to the fairgrounds beginning at 7:30 a.m. Anyone from O'Brien County is encouraged to exhibit and the entry fee is only $1 per exhibitor.

The special class in photography this year is "birds." This must be an 8x10" photo with no matting or frame. Muffins are a featured open class baking division this year, with the classes being fruit, chocolate chip and any other muffin. Adittionally, there is a barn quilt square contest, with those 2x2' squares kept permanently at the O'Brien County Fairgrounds open craft building. Those pre-cut boards can be picked up at the Neal Chase Lumbar in Primghar, at no cost.

On Saturday evening, the Primghar JCs will have their fifth race of the season, with the flag to drop at 7 p.m.

A worship service organized by the Sutherland Church of Christ will be held on Sunday at 10 a.m. In the afternoon, the horse show will be held beginning at 1 p.m. Christian musicians the Bontrager Family will entertain Sunday evening on the Wayne Maase Memorial stage at 7 p.m.

He has an exciting, family friendly comedy routine, with a variety of juggling and zany balloon twisting. At 5:30 p.m. the Pedal Tractor Pull will begin registration, sponsored again by the North West Iowa REC.

At 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening, the Interstate Cruisers will play on the stage. This is a familiar group from northwest Iowa, popular in the Iowa Great Lakes area, having been inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.
