Programs for adults at HPL in July

Hartley Public Library will host a game night for adults at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 8. Board games, Card Against Humanity and many other options will be available.

In keeping with the summer library program theme of “Reading Beyond the Beaten Path,” the library is hosting a camp craft night for adults. It will be held on Monday, July 11 at 6:30 p.m. Participants will make pressed flower tote bags.

The library will also host a knitting boot camp on Saturday, July 16 at 9:30 a.m. Have all your questions answered and be instructed by very experienced knitters who can help you start a journey to be a master knitter. Call the library at (712) 928-2080 to sign up as there will be supplies provided.

3 options at Red’s

Red’s Catering in downtown Hartley will be serving three meal options on Wednesday, July 13.

Research Farm Field Day set for July 13

The annual Northwest Iowa Research Farm Field Day will be held Wednesday, July 13, from 9:30 a.m.-noon at the farm located at 6320 500th Street near Sutherland.

The program will begin with ISU Extension and Outreach Crop Markets Specialist Chad Hart discussing “Outlooks: Ag, Carbon and Renewable Energy.” A new optional corn rootworm field day providing in-field education using a corn-on-corn demonstration plot will follow lunch at 1 p.m.

Attendance at the morning and/or afternoon field day is free and open to the public. Registration is not needed. For more information, contact Joel DeJong at (712) 546-7835 or jldejong@iastate.edu.

Farmland leasing meetings scheduled

Farmland leasing meetings for agriculture property owners, tenants, ag business representatives and lenders will be held throughout Northwest Iowa in early August.

Each workshop will discuss current farmland value and lease rate trends; methods for determining 2023 fair ag rents; conservation practices; farmland lease communication and legalities, including how to write and terminate a lease; and other important ag topics that contribute to key farm management decisions.

Upcoming workshop options include:

• Wednesday, Aug. 3, 6 p.m., Osceola County Extension Office, 121 9th Street, Sibley; preregister to (712) 754-3648.

• Thursday, Aug. 11, 9 a.m., 4-H Auditorium, Clay County Fairgrounds, 800 West 18th Street, Spencer; preregister to (712) 262-2264.

• Monday, Aug. 15, 9 a.m., Dickinson County Extension Office, 1600 15th Street, Spirit Lake; preregister to (712) 336-3488.

Meetings are approximately 2-1/2 hours in length and all registrants receive a leasing arrangement book as well as access to research-based resources from ISU Extension and Outreach.

Regular hours at Royal library

Hours at the Royal Public Library are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 3-5 p.m.; and Tuesday and Saturday, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Hope Lutheran food pantry hours

Current hours for the food pantry at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly are Wednesdays, 1-5 p.m. Everyone is allowed to come in and pick out their food, but masks are required.

Al Anon meetings

Al Anon meetings are held at the following locations each week:

Wednesday, 8 p.m., 511 Southmoor, Spencer; Thursday, 8 p.m., Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Royal; Sunday, 7 p.m., Sanford Medical Center, 118 N 7th Ave., Sheldon.
