• Called to hog barn fire

Hartley firemen were called last week to extinguish a fire in a hog barn located south of Hartley.

According to the report, a passerby noticed smoke coming from the building located at 380th Street and Warbler Avenue, and called 911. The fire was contained to the area where feeding tubes entered the building. Moderate damage was reported. The cause was not determined, but is believed to have been related to the auger.

The department was at the scene for approximately one hour. Sanborn firefighters were called for mutual aid as part of Hartley’s department was assisting at a bale fire near May City.
