A 195-202 win over West Sioux gave Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn a split in War Eagle Conference boys' golf dual action last week. The final meet was played on May 6 at the Hawarden Golf Club.

H-M-S players finishing second through fourth on the leader board were Jack Mastbergen (46), Spencer McCarter (49) and Lucas Kroese (49). Also competing were Nick Bronstad (51), Keith DeBoer (53) and Wyatt Borden (60).

The Hawks were unable to play two of their scheduled conference dual meets. Nine-hole scores at WEC tournament on May 9 will determine the boys' final regular season standings.

• Action at Sanborn

Sanborn Golf and Country Club was a crowded venue as H-M-S hosted three other conference boys' golf teams on May 3. The Hawks finished with a win and two losses in dual competition.

H-M-S's victory came against Harris-Lake Park, 191-196. Keith DeBoer (46) and Nick Bronstad (47) finished No. 3-4 on the leaderboard. Spencer McCarter just missed qualifying as a medalist (47). Also competing were Jack Mastbergen (51), Lucas Kroese (54) and Wyatt Borden (55).

Despite having DeBoer, Bronstad and McCarter finish No. 2-4 in the final scoring, MMCRU was able to defeat H-M-S, 186-191. The Royals' next four players finished ahead of the rest of the Hawk lineup to earn the victory.

Akron-Westfield dominated the scoring against H-M-S, as all six Westerners recorded better rounds than those of the Hawks in a 159-191 win.
