• Narcotics arrest at Sutherland
A Sutherland man was arrested on May 4 for allegedly growing marijuana in his home.
The report stated that officials with the Department of Human Services were at the home of Dean Swanson, 57, of Sutherland, in response to a report of plants growing in a closet. They requested that law enforcement respond to the home, where deputies reported a strong small of marijuana from outside. Authorities allege that five marijuana plants were found under a grow light in the closet, along with a quantity of marijuana and THC wax.
Swanson was arrested and charged with Unlawful Manufacture, Delivery or Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Manufacture or Deliver Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance-3rd Offense, and two counts of Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp. All are Class D felonies.
A preliminary hearing in O’Brien County Magistrate Court is scheduled for Wednesday, May 25.
