Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn lands 2 players on War Eagle all-conference teams

Lance Berends, Kooper Ebel are 3-time selections

Junior Lance Berends was named to the all-War Eagle Conference first team for the third time in his H-M-S career.

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn is represented on the all-War Eagle Conference boys' basketball teams by juniors Lance Berends and Kooper Ebel.

Berends was named to the 2021-22 all-conference first team, the third time he has received that recognition, while Ebel was named to the second team. Ebel was on the first team as sophomore and honorable mention two years ago.

The duo ranked No. 1-2 in scoring, rebounding and blocks during the season. Ebel also led H-M-S in steals and finished second in assists.

The 2021-22 all-conference selections are listed below.

BOYS' ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

First Team: Remsen St. Mary's – Jaxon Bunkers, 11; Austin Jensen, 12. Unity Christian – James Bouma, 12; Jacob Van Donge, 11. Hinton – Caleb Holmes, 12. Gehlen Catholic – Keaton Bonderson, 11. South O'Brien – Jake Wallin, 11. H-M-S – Lance Berends, 11. West Sioux – Mason Coppock, 11; Carter Bultman, 11.

Second Team: Remsen St. Mary's – Carter Schorg, 12; Cael Ortmann, 11. Unity Christian – Bo Byl, 12. Gehlen Catholic – Carter DeRocher, 12. H-M-S – Kooper Ebel, 11. South O'Brien – Hudson Oolman, 11. MMCRU – Kyler Bork, 10. West Sioux – Blake Van Ballegooyen, 12. Hinton – Carson Pierce, 11.
