Carroll H. Dass, 95

A private family funeral service for Carroll H. Dass was held Friday, Jan. 21, 2022, at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley. Interment was held Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery in Ocheyedan, with military rites provided by the Wood-Miller American Legion Post #326.

Carroll Herman Dass was born on June 3, 1926 near Harris, to Herman and Fairy (Staley) Dass. He entered the U.S. Navy on Feb. 20, 1945 where he served and was stationed on the U.S.S. Randolph, and was later discharged on July 5, 1946.

Carroll had a busy life. He worked in a grocery store at Worthington, Minn. and also in Hartley. He also sold Moorman's Feed and painted many houses. Carroll was a part-owner of the True Value hardware store in Hartley. He loved woodworking and could be found doing various woodworking projects for his family.

On March 13, 1949, he was united in marriage to Ramona Schuck in Worthington, Minn. To this union four children joined the family: Diane Janssen (Pete), Lynette Farnsworth (Steve), Kenneth Dass (Machelle) and Kevin Dass (Cheryl). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Carroll was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley and the Wood-Miller American Legion Post #326, of Ocheyedan. He loved to play cards with his family and he loved to dance with Ramona. He entered Country View Manor Nursing Home at Sibley in April of 2017 due to declining health. Carroll was so happy to be able to share a room with his wife, Ramona, where you could very often catch them holding hands during the daytime hours. He was affectionately known by his nieces and nephews as "Uncle Bud."

Carroll passed away at the age of 95 on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, at the Country View Manor. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Darlene Dass; and his sister and brother-in-law, Francis and Shorty Lamont.
