Ethan McCarty, of Royal, was a brave little reindeer as he sat atop Mrs. Claus' lap last weekend.

Royal Community Action hosted its annual Festival of Trees last Saturday morning at The Great Hall of Royal. Royal Fire Chief Matt Goyette safely brought Santa and Mrs. Claus to the event via the Royal ambulance.

Nearly 40 children came to the Royal Festival of Trees festivities last weekend at The Great Hall of Royal.

The jolly couple was greeted by the smiling faces of children as they entered the venue and took their perch on the stage next to the beautifully decorated giant Christmas tree. As children filtered through taking their turns on Santa or Mrs. Claus' lap, parents and guests walked around voting on their favorite decorated Christmas tree or festive table setting. After their visit with the Clauses, children decorated cookies, enjoyed hot cocoa and snacks, and were each treated to a gift from the gift table.

Winner of the Festival of Trees was Mel Brichta with her Rustic Hare mini tree and table display. Toft Electric won second place.

Santa will be returning to Royal on Monday, Dec. 20. With the help of the Royal Lions Club, he will be going around town to visit local children and pass out candy.
