David E. Jacobs, 77, Livingston, Texas

David Earl Jacobs was born May 31, 1944. He was the eldest of six children born to Earl E. and Merna L. (Klatt) Jacobs. He attended the Melvin school district most of his school years but in his junior year his parents relocated to the Hartley school district. He graduated from Hartley High School in 1962. After graduation, David enlisted in the Marines where he served five years. He excelled in riflery and received several medals. His basic training was at Camp Pendleton and he loved southern California.

Following his honorable discharge from the Marines, David chose to stay in California. He graduated from UCLA in 1974 and worked for the U.S. Post Office from which he retired in 2002. In 1971 he was united in marriage to Karen VB Voorhis. After his retirement he and his wife traveled. After spending a few years in Tennessee, they chose to live in Livingston, Texas with a second home in southern California.


On Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, David passed away at the age of 77. Preceding him in death were his wife, Karen VB; his parents, Earl and Merna Jacobs; and his sister, Karen Klaassen.

David is survived by his sisters, Eileen Jacobs, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Marsha McClain, of Harris; his brothers, Dwayne (Ruth) Jacobs, of Milford, and Dwight (Darla) Jacobs, of Spirit Lake; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
