• Inmate charged with assaulting jail employee
Brandon Lee Nelson, 34, of Sheldon, is accused of assaulting an O’Brien County jail supervisor during an incident on Tuesday, Nov. 2 in Primghar.
According to the report, Nelson allegedly attacked the supervisor, repeatedly punching him in the head. Nelson is charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations with Intent to Inflict Serious Injury, a class D felony. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 12 in O’Brien County Magistrate Court.
Nelson was in jail after being arrested in connection with an incident that occurred in Sheldon in August. He was charged with Theft-2nd Degree, a class D felony; and Burglary of a Vehicle-3rd degree and Sex Offender Registry Violation, both aggravated misdemeanors. Nelson is scheduled to go on trial for those charges on Dec. 14.

Joshua Griffin, 39, was taken into custody Oct. 28 by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at 3175 150th Ave., Everly, on an active warrant for Criminal Mischief-4th degree. Griffin was released on $150 cash bond.
