H-M-S vocalists sing in honor choir: Several young singers from Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Middle School participated in the 7/8 Northwest Iowa ICDA Honor Choir on Nov. 2 in Le Mars. H-M-S's Jordan Lux was chosen as soloist. More than 300 singers from 34 schools came together. The 7/8 Bass Festival was under the direction of David Schaefer, and the 7/8 Treble Festival choir was directed by Samantha Robilliard. The H-M-S students are directed by Kristi Wingert. October rainfall improves Iowa drought conditions
This October ranks as one of the Top 10 wettest Octobers on record, with rainfall significantly improving drought conditions, according to the latest Water Summary Update by the Iowa DNR.
Iowa received nearly 5 inches of rain in October, almost double the normal rainfall for the month. The U.S. Drought Monitor has eliminated the Severe Drought rating from the state for the first time since July 2020.
Streamflow and soil moisture conditions have both improved, both of which are critical for establishing good conditions for the spring of 2022.
