CC/E Elementary celebrates Red Ribbon Week

Clay Central/Everly Elementary used a creative tactic to instill ever-important lessons during Red Ribbon Week last week. The district paired their Spirit Week with Red Ribbon Week, having students and staff participate in daily dress-up themes to instill a positive, no-drug attitude.

Monday's kickoff was Spirit Day, where participants dressed in their Red and Gold Maverick attire. Tuesday's theme of "Follow Your Dreams and Don't Do Drugs" was a crowd-favorite, allowing children and staff to roll right out of bed and attend school in their pajamas. Wednesday was "I'm Too Bright For Drugs," where students wore bright colors. "Don't Get Mixed Up in Drugs" was Thursday's mix-matched outfits/crazy-hair theme. Friday ended the week with "Show Good Character-Say NO to Drugs," where children dressed up in their favorite character/costume.

"Red Ribbon Week is where we focus on making healthy and smart choices so we can make sure we can achieve our goals in life," said CC/E school counselor Marlana Tewes. "We ended the week with a day full of fun activities. We played some fall BINGO, filled our tummies with cookies we decorated, pulled out the famous parachute, and made scarecrow magnets before settling in for our own classroom fun in the afternoon."
