• Driver suffers possible medical condition

A possible medical condition may have contributed to a single vehicle accident that occurred on Oct. 6 at 9:40 a.m.

According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, Jay Gilbert Axdahl, 65, of Sanborn, was driving south on Silver Avenue when his vehicle left the roadway, went through the ditch and entered a cornfield. The vehicle then proceeded south through the field before continuing about a half-mile west.

Axdahl was not injured; however, the report stated that he appeared to have suffered a medical condition that led him to drive off the roadway and into the field. He was transported to MercyOne Hospital in Primghar by the Sanborn Ambulance.

Damage to the 2006 Ford Expedition was estimated at $2,000 and the estimate of damage to the corn owned by Randy Vander Sluis, of Archer, was $750.

• Car/deer collision

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 3200 mile of 180th Avenue, at 8:52 p.m. on Oct. 6, for a report of a car/deer collision. The report stated that Vicki Irwin, 71, of Hartley, was northbound when her 2011 Ford Fusion struck a deer that had entered the roadway. Damage was estimated at $1,500.
