Steven G. Sorensen, 71

Steven G. Sorensen, 71, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, in Salina, Kan. He was born in Hartley to Gene and Donna (Brummer) Sorensen. Steve graduated from Hartley High School in 1968 and then attended Iowa State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology.

After graduation he moved to Kansas to work for the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, where he worked until his early retirement due to health issues. He continued his passion for conservation through work with Kansas Wildlife Federation, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, National Wild Turkey Federation and many other organizations.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Donna Sorensen; his wife, Carol (Bjostad) Sorensen; and his sister, Patti Engle.

Steve is survived by his son, Bryan (Arin) Sorensen, of Concordia, Kan., and their children, Bryson and Blayne; his daughter, Shandra (Matt) Robb, of Wichita, Kan., and their children, Alexis, Xander and Korvin; former wife, Jeanenne (Buhrmann) Cullop, of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Deb Sorensen, of Cherokee; brother-in-law, Steve Engle, of Kingsley; and other relatives and friends.

It was Steve's wishes to be cremated. A celebration of life and prayer service was held on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021, at Baker Funeral Home in Valley Center, Kan.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve's name to Kansas Wildlife Federation and handled by Baker Funeral Home or sent to 1305 Archer, Concordia, KS 66901.
