David L. Titler, 48, Everly

Services in memory of David L. Titler were held Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, at the United Methodist Church in Everly, with Pastor Mike Eeten officiating.

Pallbearers were Michael Titler, Thomas Titler, Matthew Titler, Joshua Titler, Ethan Titler and Noah Titler. Interment was in North Lawn Memorial Park at Spencer. Military services were conducted by American Legion, Glen Pedersen Post #1 and VFW Clay County Post #3159, of Spencer. Warner Funeral Home in Everly assisted with the arrangements.

David Lee Titler, the son of Ronald and Karen (Alger) Titler, was born in Hartley on Jan. 30, 1973. David was baptized at the Everly United Methodist Church and later became a member. David attended grade school and high school in Everly, graduating from Clay Central/Everly High School in 1991. David was involved in multiple sports and activities, and won the state 100 meter dash in track in the spring of 1990. He attended Northwest Iowa Community College for carpentry. David served in the National Guard for six years. He was assigned to the Spencer unit and then transferred to the Sibley unit. He was activated for the floods of 1993.

On Aug. 20, 1994, he married Amy Pals at the United Methodist Church in Sanborn. They lived in Sheldon and he worked for Rosenboom’s. They moved to St. Louis, Mo. in 1999 and he continued to work in carpentry and construction.

David moved back to Everly in 2010 and was forced to retire due to his illness. He was cared for by his mother up to the day of his passing, on Aug. 23, 2021, at the age of 48. David was a lifetime Iowa Hawkeye football fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

David is survived by his children: Jordyn Titler and Jonathan Titler, of St. Louis, Mo.; mother, Karen Titler, of Everly; brothers: Michael (Trisha) Titler, of Newton; and Thomas (Mayra) Titler, of Montclair, Va.; brother-in-law, Todd Youngberg, of Albert City; nephews: Matthew Titler, Joshua Titler, Ethan Titler and Noah Titler; step nephew, Anthony Hughes; great-step niece, Lilly Hughes; aunt, Marva (Doug) Neighbor; other relatives and friends.

David was preceded in death by his father, Ronald; infant brother, Robert Jay; sister, Rhonda Youngberg, and grandparents.
