Everly resident Kevin Cook died Dec. 31, 2020 after a short and hard battle with cancer. His family and wife decided to hold a traveling mini golf tournament during Everly Community Day on July 31 to celebrate Kevin's memory, dubbing it "The Cookie Memorial Gold Tourney."

More than 90 registrants participated in the tournament that took place all over town. Over 16 holes made up the event with 13 of those holes creatively crafted on Everly citizens' lawns, while the remainder were located at local businesses.

Kevin's son, Ryan Nemmers, said the tournament went over well.

"It was so nice to see people smile, laugh and just have fun," he said. "It was a beautiful day to celebrate a beautiful soul."
