Places second in SkillsUSA Competition: Students from Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon recently competed in the local District SkillsUSA Competition. In the college Auto and Light Duty Diesel division, Lucas Sindt, of Everly, placed second. He is the son of Allen and Robin Sindt, and a 2019 graduate of Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High School. SkillsUSA programs help to establish industry standards for job skill training in the lab and classroom, and promote community service. They also provide quality educational experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development; and build and reinforce self-confidence, work attitudes and communication skills.

Voters need to respond to 'No Activity' notices

Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate is encouraging Iowans who receive a "No Activity" mailing from his office to respond quickly.

Registered voters who did not participate in the 2020 general election will soon receive the mailing to confirm their residential address. Those who do not respond will continue to be listed as inactive voters until they participate in an election or update their voter registration.
