• Abandoned dogs rescued in O’Brien County

Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue, of Sioux City, with the help of local volunteers assisted the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office with a large scale dog rescue on Jan. 13. The rescue occurred after an O’Brien County resident passed away, leaving no one to care for the animals.

There were a total of 39 dogs on the acreage. Nine of them were put down by law enforcement after consultation with a local veterinarian due to their poor condition. Seven others were already dead upon the arrival of the sheriff’s office and Noah’s Hope.

Noah’s Hope volunteers were able to humanely catch the 23 remaining dogs, several of which were puppies, and bring them to their rescue shelter. In the report, the sheriff’s office recognized the outstanding service Noah’s Hope and their volunteers provided.

Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue provides a no-time limit rescue shelter to animals for as long as it takes to find suitable homes. They are not federally or municipally funded and are supported through donations and adoptions. If you are interested in learning more about Noah’s Hope or adopting a new pet check out their website at http://www.noahshopeanimalrescue.com or their Facebook page.
