1996: First dual win for H-M-S wrestling program

The Hartley Farmers Mutual fire truck joined the Ocheyedan firemen in fighting flames that completely destroyed the Luinstra garage at May City. The flames originated in the rear of the workroom. Thanks to quick response of the community, nearby buildings were saved.

August Brand, formerly of Storm Lake, rented the building south of the Hartley Liquor Store, previously occupied by Pilley’s cream station. After completing extensive remodeling of the building, Mr. Brand was ready to open a shoe repair business.
