Miles B. Rohan, 72, Everly

Memorial services for Miles B. Rohan will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at the Warner Chapel in Everly, with Pastor Michael Hyde officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are Leo Appel, Doug Clarke, Denny Davids, Jay Davis, John Davis, Meredith Johnston, Dale Hanna, Tim Lynn, John Schneider, Paul Sipes, Gene Sorbo and Bruce Dunning. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery at Spencer. Warner Funeral Home in Everly is assisting with the arrangements.

Miles Bruce Rohan, the son of LaMont Edward and Donna Jean (Irvine) Rohan, was born Sept. 1, 1948 in Sioux City. His childhood years were spent in Newcastle, Neb., where he received his education, graduating from Newcastle High School in 1966. He continued his education at Wayne State Teacher’s College, graduating in 1970.

Miles married Neila Arnold on June 3, 1972 in Denison. After their marriage Miles taught Industrial Arts at the high school in Everly. They built a new house while he was teaching, using it as a teaching tool for his students. He owned and operated Rohan Construction for 13 years before working for Eaton Corporation where he retired from in 2010. After retiring, he assisted his sons Kevin at his Game State store in Spencer and Patrick with farming near Ruthven. For several years, he worked with the Cub Scout program in Everly and helped guide a neighbor scout to earn his Eagle Scout Merit.

He had a large operating model railroad in his home and hosted an open house during the Christmas season as well as operating sessions for his fellow model railroaders. Miles was a member of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) and a founding member of the Prairie Lakes Division of the NMRA. He was superintendent of the KICD Train Depot at the Clay County Fair for several years.

Miles passed away at his home on Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, at the age of 72 after a long bout with pancreatic cancer. Miles was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Michael Miles Rohan.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Neila, of Everly; two sons: Patrick (Diane) Rohan, of Ruthven; and Kevin (Susan) Rohan, of Spencer; two grandchildren, Curt Rohan, of Ruthven; and Lily Rohan, of Spencer; one sister, Marcia (Rick) Potter, of Denver, Colo.; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
