It's a jolly holiday, but not a Christmas Tea

Every year the Clay Central/Everly second graders have the honor of partaking in an offsite, festive-as-can-be Christmas Tea. The outing is usually hosted at former CC/E teacher Lynn Cronk's home and is a delightful day filled with numerous holiday traditions like tea time, Christmas caroling and making gingerbread houses

This year Mrs. Larson helped transform the event into a pandemic-friendly, in-class day of fun. Students and staff had a day of Christmas cheer making gingerbread cabins while sipping on cider. They also listened to a Christmas story read by Director of Student Services Heidi Vasher, ate a lunch and cookies fit for the day, and strung cranberries with popcorn to be hung in the Nature Learning Center for their winged friends. Classmates were gifted a bright sequin Santa hat that they wore proudly during the festivities.

Nothing can be quite as perfect for a CC/E student than to have a Christmas Tea to remember and cherish, however, the students and staff truly made the most of another COVID curveball and enjoyed their day with friends, holding onto the hope that next year will allow the return of the tea.
