1995: Feddersen elected mayor of Hartley

• Nov. 8, 1945

A group of businessmen and representatives from the American Legion Auxiliary and the United Service Women volunteered their services to make a canvass of Hartley for the eighth and final bond drive. Through their efforts, a total of $63,851 was pledged. The amount was $23,500 more than the quota set for Hartley.

The American Legion Auxiliary was planning to host a chicken dinner at the Legion Hall. The dinner was an annual event for many years but was discontinued during wartime rationing. Public demand caused the Auxiliary to reestablish the custom.
