A blustery finish to the season

Cross country runners compete in state qualifying meet

The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn cross country teams have completed their 2020 seasons, running for the final time on Oct. 22 at the 1A state qualifying meet on a cold and rainy day in Holstein.

Junior Madison Otto was the top performer for the Hawks, finishing 23rd in the 5,000-meter race. Other finishers for the girls' varsity were freshman Alexis Croatt in 47th, sophomore Ashleigh Vermeer in 63rd, sophomore Jaela Anliker in 67th, sophomore Juliana Pasillas in 70th and senior Hailey Grotluschen in 71st.
