1970: Heathcote named new police chief in Hartley

The board of directors of the Hartley Chamber of Commerce elected W.R. Wagner to fill the unexpired term of Gerald Goetsch as secretary of the local business group. Goetsch had ably served in that capacity since the induction of Ingwer L. Hansen into the armed services.
Gerald Epping and his brother-in-law, Carl Hain, purchased the Coast to Coast store from Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Brooks, who had owned the business since May when they took over from Mr. and Mrs. Joe Burley. Mr. and Mrs. Brooks were moving to California where he would be employed.
