• Misses curve during accident

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office received a report on Aug. 28 at 6:45 p.m., that an accident had occurred at 455th Street and Yew Avenue.

Jenny Lynn Baier, 56, of Royal, was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion east on 455th Street when she missed the curve at Yew Avenue. Airbags were deployed.

Baier was taken to the Spencer Hospital by the Sutherland Ambulance with a possible broken arm. The accident remains under investigation.

• Semi tractor-trailer overturns on ramp

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated an accident that occurred on Sept. 2 at 6:54 p.m.

The report stated that Slone Allen LaCour, 22, of Hartley, was driving a 2017 Freightliner registered to Cooperative Farmers Elevator of Rock Valley. LaCour was attempting to turn northbound onto Highway 60 entering the onramp from Highway 9 but was traveling too fast, causing the semi and trailer to overturn.

LaCour was transported to the Osceola Regional Health Center with non-incapacitating injuries and later released. Damages were estimated at $125,000. LaCour was issued a citation for Failure to Maintain Control.

The Sibley Fire Department assisted at the scene.

• Driver falls asleep near Moneta

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office investigated an accident which occurred in the 1000 mile of 360th Street, at 9:03 a.m. on Aug. 31.

The report stated that Rachel Martinez, 33, of Spencer, was driving eastbound on B-24 in O’Brien County near Moneta. Martinez claimed to have fallen asleep at the wheel and lost control of her 2017 Infiniti QX70, which entered the ditch and rolled, coming to rest on its wheels.

Martinez was seen and released by the Spencer Ambulance for suspected minor injuries. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Spencer Ambulance and Everly Fire Department.
