The Clay County Sheriff’s Office investigated an accident that occurred on Aug. 15 at 12:18 p.m.

The report stated that Ronnie Brodersen, 69, of Spencer, was stopped at the northbound stop sign on 340th Avenue at the intersection of Highway 18. Brodersen began backing his 1996 Chevrolet Silverado with an enclosed trailer and struck a 2020 Ford F250 driven by Brian Bland, 38, of Ruthven.

• Collide at intersection

Two vehicles collided at the intersection of Monroe Avenue and 410th Street on Aug. 12 at 7:06 p.m.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reported that Amy Marie Waterman, 44, of Hawarden, was westbound on 410th Street and Jamie Lynn Theisen, 21, of Marcus, was southbound on Monroe Avenue. Due to cornfields at the intersection, the drivers failed to see each other and their vehicles collided. Waterman’s 2019 Cadillac Escalade came to rest on a bridge rail and Theisen’s 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo entered the ditch in the southwest corner of the intersection and landed with the rear caught on the bridge embankment.

Theisen suffered minor/non-incapacitating injuries and was transported to Orange City Area Health System by the Hospers Ambulance. Waterman was not injured. Damage to the Escalade was estimated at $55,000 and damage to the Monte Carlo was listed at $5,000. Waterman was cited for Failure to Yield to Vehicle on Right.
