Community Calendar dates due Sept. 1

The Community Calendar for the communities of Hartley, Melvin and May City will be distributed again this year. Clubs and organizations wishing to list their meeting dates are asked to bring or send them to The Sentinel- News office.

H-M-S school activities will also be listed. There is no charge to have meeting dates listed on the calendar. Dates should be submitted no later than Tuesday, Sept. 1.

When the calendars are printed, they will be available as a courtesy of the sponsors.

Food pantry at Hope Lutheran

The food pantry at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly is still open. Temporary hours are Mondays, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., and Wednesdays, 1-5 p.m. Please knock on the church door and food will be brought out to you.

Thursday, Aug. 27: Breakfast – Biscuits with sausage, fruit, juice; Lunch – Beef and gravy, potatoes, green beans, banana, dinner roll.

Friday, Aug. 28: Breakfast – Donut, fruit, juice; Lunch – Grilled cheese, carrots, peaches, chocolate chip cookie.

Monday, Aug. 31: Breakfast – No listing; Lunch – Pizza, lettuce salad, carrots, pears.

Milk is served with each meal.

Need for blood donations continues

LifeServe Blood Center will conduct a blood drive at Southpark Mall in Spencer on Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 12:30 p.m.-6 p.m.

Anyone who does not have an appointment will not be able to give blood. Blood donors should pre-screen themselves for fever prior to appointments. Donors are required to wear a mask for the duration of their appointment and those who do not have masks will be provided with one.

Pesticide testing is canceled at Primghar

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship has canceled pesticide applicator testing scheduled for Sept. 8 at the Extension office in Primghar.

The Pesticide Bureau website has a list of college test sites and IDALS sites in the area. They are available at https://iowaagriculture.gov/pesticide-bureau/pesticide-applicator-testing.
