We are continuing to stay positive amidst the COVID-chaos. The recent rainfall of last week mixed with this week's forecast of little to no humidity and potentially more rain, is all cause for rejoicing.

The girls have enjoyed using their rainboots for jumping in mudpuddles and dancing in the rain, plus are enjoying utilizing their umbrellas that were starting to get dusty from little use.

The humidity last week had us frequently visiting the Scharnberg Park beach to enjoy the light breeze when we could find it, along with the hot sun and refreshing water. We are thankful for such a wonderful swimming beach close by that provides some sweet, outdoor, recreational relief during this crazy COVID-19 summer.

We have been making our own fun and last week decided to create our own homecoming parade at the CC/E track and football field in Royal. We held our parade at dusk. The children and friends dressed themselves in some pretty fantastic fashions and Livon helped do everyone's makeup. They made Livon the honorary Homecoming queen and marched around the track singing songs as it turned dark around us. As much as they loved it, it made me a bit sad as we sat on the bleachers and walked around the track. I couldn't help but revisit so many vivid and beautiful memories made there.

Speaking of CC/E, I received a call the other week from Ms. P (Nancy Patrick) our former and infamous Clay Central/Everly music teacher. She purchased a piano from the Everly site and needed help loading it into her vehicle. I went to help and walked with her through the building, reminiscing at nearly every corner. It was emotional at times and mostly joyous in the fond memories we each shared of this place we love so dearly. It brought me much happiness and comfort to see the teacher who had used this piano so often and brought joy to many by playing it get to take it home.

There is still so much to be sold in the building, everything from drum heads and kits to pianos and chairs. I was surprised at how much had already been sold – doors off of their frames, music, tables and more. The gentleman in charge of the liquidation was extremely friendly and helpful. His helpfulness shown in caring about how much this building meant to Ms. P, and it was heartfelt and sincere.

I encourage everyone who loves CC/E and/or is interested in some reasonably-priced items to go to the sale website and take a look. You would be surprised what is still left and what you may want to take home with you as a memorial of our beloved school. Even if you aren't an affiliate or alumnus of CC/E, I would recommend taking a look at their list. You never know what you may find and all sales do help the school system.

My grandparents have been watching VHS home videos of us grandchildren in their free time. They speak of each video with such joy and how reliving those memories through the videos is priceless.

I have found many things this week pointing towards memories and how precious making quality ones are. Whether at school, on the playground, around town, abroad, or with those you love most like family and friends, making the most of this life and relishing each memory made seems key.
