District opener Saturday at Remsen

The Hawks open the Class 1A district tournament against undefeated Remsen St. Mary's at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, at Remsen. St. Mary's is ranked No. 2 in the latest Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association ratings.

The Hawk ladies stay home for the opening round of postseason play.

"They have great players and they're a great baseball program," Gloden acknowledged. "It will be a very tough test. If we play our best ball, that's all we can do."

Saturday's winner advances to play either South O'Brien or Gehlen Catholic on July 14 at Remsen.

Softball postseason begins July 13

The Hawks will host West Bend-Mallard in the first round of the Class 1A regional tournament on Monday, July 13 at 7 p.m. The Wolverines play in the Twin Lakes Conference and had a record of 2-6 entering this week.

The winner advances to play River Valley on Wednesday, July 15 at 7 p.m., at Correctionville. River Valley is a member of the Western Valley Conference and had a record of 13-1 through last week's action.
