    Any notion of a bipartisan election result in Iowa was resoundingly squashed on Tuesday by a wave of Republican victories at the state and federal levels. Despite at least one recent poll predicting a neck-and-neck race, former president Donald Trump cruised to victory over Democrat Kamala Harris, 56 percent to 43 percent.     The Royal Riverton #8 Schoolhouse and Museum recently installed a handicapped-accessible ramp that will provide better access to those visiting the historic society's facility. The aluminum ramp, provided and installed by Wheelchair Dynamics, cost $28,000.     • Nov. 10, 1949 The strong wind that caused untold loss to Iowa farmers was a boon to youngsters of the community. School children were employed by farmers to pick corn off the ground. In some areas as much as 20 bushels to the acre were gleaned, and some youngsters made as much as $6-$7 per day. Rehearsals were underway for “Laff It Off,” the big home talent show sponsored by the American Legion Post and Auxiliary.
